Literature, simply put, is using words as art. Paint a picture using brushes and you get the artist's impression but paint a picture using words and you get your own. An author has the ability to take you to another place, another time and another reality but one that you can feel free to make your own.

Listen to the words of your favourite song, what is it about those words that make you feel the way you do? Is it how they are sung or arranged? Is it the music behind them? Ask yourself why you have chosen that particular song. It is the words.

"Music can make a word mean something more than the word can do alone, what interests me is the unbelievable power of the word to stand on its own," says 22-year-old writer Kevin Loxley from Aurora, ON.

A simple word can make you feel defeated; lost. A simple word can make you feel powerful and empty at the same time. Words are powerful, not tangible, but can create emotion in seconds.

When one thinks of words the alphabet itself is probably not taken into consideration. The alphabet, an array of lines and circles, is what makes up our language as it is today.

“When language began to be written, a history of lettering and letterforms developed that can be a rich source for a student of art or language.”

The idea behind this web site is 'young canadian author'. It's purpose is to tell a story and an effort to demonstrate theories and practices in web design.

A story can mean so much to one person and so little to many people. If an author's work has touched the life of even one person their work was not in vain.

"I write because I write, and in the hope that someone will enjoy it and maybe have their mind or their life changed by my words," says Loxley.

The Storyteller's Creed

“I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge.
That myth is more potent than history.
That dreams are more powerful than facts.
That hope always triumphs over experience.
That laughter is the only cure for grief.
And I believe that love is stronger than death. ”
