College Life: Alcohol, Sex and Responsibility

Facts

—Alcohol is a poisonous drug: how do you think people get drunk?
—Alcohol has no nutritional value: milk or beer on your cereal?
—The alcoholic content in beer, a glass of wine or a mixed drink is the same: so you drinking five tall jack and cokes - it's just like drinking five bottles of beer.
—Alcohol causes "blackouts" (the inability to remember what happened while drinking): sorry, what's your name?
—Severe physical and/or psychological reactions occur: have you ever seen someone who is allergic to alcohol get drunk? GROSS!
—Drinking alcohol causes marked changes in behavior or personality: ya, it's true - you were pretty much a loser.
—Injuries to yourself and others may happen while intoxicated: driving, fighting, falling…whatever it is - is it worth it?

1 drink is:
—12oz. Bottle of beer (5% alcohol)
—5oz. Wine (12% alcohol)
—1 1⁄2 oz. Spirits (eg. Vodka, tequila, etc.)1. More than 12 drinks a week greatly increases your risk of alcohol problems.
More than 1 drink an hour increases your risk of becoming drunk.
—Alcohol reduces your ability to study.
—Alcohol impairs reaction time, side vision, balance, reflexes, eye/hand coordination, thereby interfering with ones' ability to drive a vehicle or to participate in sports and recreational activities.
—Alcohol is a depressant, not a problem solver. If you are already stressed or depressed, it can make things worse, not better.
