Interactivity
The idea of interactivity
has only just begun to affect the way a reader sees the news online.
Interactivity was defined in the May 31, 1993 issue of Newsweek
as:
interactivity:
1. new technology that will change the way you shop, play and
learn
2. a zillion-dollar industry (maybe).
Interactivity is can be defined in many ways but ultimately it
is up to the reader to define how interactive they want their
experience to be. The reader decides wether or not they want to
join a discussion, send an email, view the latest news clips,
hear the newest radio interviews or read the headlining story
of the hour. Interactivity is up to the reader.
On the flip side, interactivity is also defined by the e-journalist
or the web designer. It is up to them to decide wether or not
they will provide the reader with these interactive services.
Many news organizations are quickly becoming more and more interactive.
For
example, the CNN Newspass allows readers to join a club for a
relatively small fee and receive unlimited access to all news
videos for one year. resources
