Tim Berners Lee invented the 'Web'. It
has been celebrated as one of the most
influential inventions to change society completely. It has changed
the way people
interact with each other and exchange information.
No longer do you have to get up from your desk, talk a walk to your
colleagues
office and talk to them personally. You have a computer to do all of
your work for you.
Granted, one must be familiar with the components that make up the machine,
but
once you have mastered the art of "File, Open, double-click"
you are well on your way
to communicating with a professor of medieval studies in Scotland or
a weather man
from California. The possibilities are infinite.
Imagine meeting your significant other on the web. It happens everyday;
meet and greet on the net. I am sure when Berners Lee invented the Web
he wasn't
hoping his invention would result in machinery matchmaking, but like
anything else,
people have tailored their web experience to suit their needs.
No one can predict what technological advancements will take place over
the
next 100 years. Just like I am sure 100 years ago no one could predict
what it would
be like today. Just think, somewhere in this world sits a man or a woman
with the next
best thing since sliced bread in their hands. We will not know when
it will happen, but
one fine day we will log on to our favourite online news service and
the headlines will
read "New invention even better than the last.
